HOW TO MAKE A POTATO CRUST PIZZA

Making a potato crust pizza with 2 ingredients is not difficult, but I have a few tips to go with the instructions:

Peel and grate 4 medium-sized ( about 650g) potatoes.

Potatoes contain a lot of water. This water needs to be removed before it is combined with the rest of the ingredients. To do this, place the grated potatoes into a muslin cloth or kitchen towel and squeeze out as much water as you can.

As long as you get most of the water out, it should be fine. the rest of the water from the potatoes will dry in the oven while baking.

Grated Potato Crust Pizza (4)

Remove the potatoes from the kitchen towel or muslin cloth and transfer to a bowl.

Add in one egg and any spices or herbs of your choice. Mix until well combined.

Place the grated potato mixture onto a lined baking sheet and press out to form a circle. It should be between 9 inches ( 25cm ) and 12 inches ( 30cm) in diameter.

Grated Potato Crust Pizza (5)

Bake without topping in a preheated oven of 350°F / 180°C for between 20 and 25 minutes until the crust is crispy and browned at the top and around the edges.

Grated Potato Crust Pizza (6)

Remove the baked crust from the oven and top with a pizza sauce and toppings of your choice. Place the topped pizza back into the oven and bake for a further 10 minutes until the cheese has melted and the toppings baked to your preference.

TOPPINGS SUGGESTIONS

I love a basic 3 cheese pizza, with mozzarella, cheddar, and parmesan. A few tomatoes and basil leaves and it tastes great.

Use toppings you love or give a try to some of these:

Mozarella

Cheddar

Fresh or dried basil ( my favourite...I could eat the entire plant 🙂

Sweet bell peppers

Pepperoni

Salami slices

The choice of sauce and toppings are endless so have fun and choose your faves 🙂
