Review: Laws of Attraction Ep. 3 (2024)

Charn once more pushes his way into Tin’s life by showing up at his sport’s class handing out ice cream. Afterwards he questions the kids about Tonkhao’s doll though and loses it over the kids calling him uncle.

He also lets Tin know about perfect victims and changes the way he dresses for the appointment they have. Charn makes it clear the only chance they have is to get the public and the media on their side, if they want to win against something as powerful. And Tin can’t look perfect when he steps in front of a camera.

Basically Charn keeps playing mind games with everyone, for example by making the senator and his son wait and provoking the son, knowing he can get him to lose it if he focusses on the abuse he knows the kid is going through at home.

And all the time he does it with that maniacal smile on his face, going as far as threatening the senator and his son.

It tuns out later that the father knows about the relevance of the doll and that he tries to talk his son into giving himself up to the police. The son in turn threatens to tell everything, which gets him more abuse.

At this point I think it’s only a matter of time until his assistant or the son himself changes ships and will come clean to Charn in order to get the kid away from the abusive senator.

Tin then gets fired from his job, because of the senator’s pressure and the family is further threatened when they leave a dead dog at their doorstep for the grandmother to find. So Tin’s attempts to keep the severity of the threats from his grandmother doesn’t really work.

Later, Tin catches on that Charn is hiding something and offers to listen if Charn needs it, but he only smiles.

And while the grandmother assures Tin that she can take care of herself, she is the first to notice when someone sets fire to their house at night. Just to find Charn right there with a fire extinguisher and his assistant with his phone camera in hand. They also find a ring on the floor with an inscription.

At this point I am convinced Charn set the house on fire, just to put the flames out quickly so he can leave the ring and blame it all on the senator or his son.

Charn blames it on the senators’s son when he calls him and also threatens him with photos. The senator believes him that his son set the house on fire, which creates even more abuse for the son, when the senator nearly drowns him in their pool. I don’t think his guard can take this any longer, especially when the kid would prefer death over this abuse at this point. Charn knows what he is doing if he wants to push the kid to the breaking point.

Problem is that Tin must know what Charn did, at least the move about the house and he won’t like it.

And yes, my suspicion that Charn and his secretary set the house on fire was correct. It was all a bit too convenient with him being there.

Tin loses it, when Charn says he did it to protect Tin and his grandmother. And I think in his own way Charn is really doing exactly this. It’s his view of the world that the ugliness and unfairness of society can only be fought with equally crooked methods.

Still, the confrontation with Tin about the issue gets to Charn. His friend sees through him and would like to meet Tin, because he manages to get under Charn’s skin. She also knows Charn’s backstory and why he does what he does, so he is actually able to open up and be straight forward.

At the same time Tin starts thinking about Charn’s words as well and it will be interesting to see which one of them can leave their principles and conviction behind.

Sadly then the episode was over and I wishes it would continue.

I really like this show, because it’s interesting plot wise, the actors have great chemistry and also the actors are just SO GOOD, which is something I used to write very rarely about Thai BL shows.

I do think though, that that has changed over time. I remember saying that about PP and Billkin, who were admittedly nearly playing themselves character wise, then Nanon impressed the hell out of me in Bad Buddy. The Kinnporsche cast were in a league of their own, especially Apo, Bible and Jeff, in my opinion. I also think Krist is doing an amazing job at playing the complex Kawi and now we have this cast here in this show, who are just great.

Another thing I really like is how they tackle the issues. Social injustice is not something that is mentioned once and then magically disappears.

A bully is shown to have some reason behind being a bully, which is true a lot of the times.

But especially it is addressed that this kind of physical abuse leaves traces and doesn’t make your kid behave the way you want. Instead it creates very fractured and broken young people. I am really curious who will break first and do something really drastic, the son or his secretary, who is obviously in love with him.

I can’t wait for the next episode and still recommend you all watch this show.
